MDG Gives Back – October Events

Written by: Kristy Buttermore

At MDG we embrace our responsibility to make a positive difference in our community. Community is one our of values, and we prioritize staying involved and giving back through charitable events. We were honored to have the opportunity to participate in multiple incredible events during the month of October.

First up was Davidson Cares Clay Day. Together with the event sponsors and participants, we were able to raise over $75,000, which will go to St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), Investing in Kids! (INK!), and Builders Care. Each of these important organizations help support and lift up those in need within our community.

The following week we participated in the INK! Charity Pro-Am Women’s Match Play Championship. This exciting event paired three of our coworkers with a professional female golfer to compete in a scramble event. We were thrilled to once again have the opportunity to support INK!, which helps fund programs and classroom resources for St. Johns County public school students.

Over the Halloween weekend, our teammates participated in three more incredible community events. The 3rd Annual Palencia Witches Ride for Childhood Illnesses took flight that Friday, raising over $7000 to support Dreams Come True of Jacksonville. This organization is the First Coast’s only locally-based wish granting program and 100% of all donations go directly towards dream fulfillment. The next morning brought INK!’s annual Jailbreak 5k, which invites runners to make the escape from the Old Town Jail to Vilano Beach. It was a brisk, beautiful morning and six of our teammates made the run to support this great cause. That afternoon we rolled into DOS’s Truck or Treat Festival with the MDG truck decked out as a pirate ship and had a great time handing out candy in a safe, family-friendly environment that also invited participants to bring supplies to support local animal shelters.

We’d like to thank all of our teammates that participated in these events and shared the spirit of community that is near and dear to us at MDG. We have a lot to look forward to as the holiday season approaches, and we are continuously grateful for these opportunities to support and give back to our community.
