Matthews | DCCM is looking for a talented Senior Planner to join our team in either Jacksonville or Saint Augustine, Florida.

In this role you will focus on helping to lead and oversee the daily activities of the Planning Department. Sr. Project Planners are expected to provide exceptional service to clients in land development research, concept planning, and entitlement efforts to achieve development project goals. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of projects with responsibilities including due diligence reports, applications for land use amendments, rezoning, special use permits, zoning variances, and overlay applications. This role assists project managers with developing code-compliant site plans and providing research and support as needed. This role will represent clients to government staff and agencies through formal staff meetings, public hearings, and community meetings.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead Concept Development: Provide high-level direction to CAD designers in creating innovative site plans that align with project goals.
  • Advise Project Teams: Offer expert advice on land use, zoning, design regulations, and concurrency, ensuring projects meet all necessary standards.
  • Engage with Regulators: Collaborate with government and agency reviewers to clarify and interpret land development regulations, ensuring smooth project approvals.
  • Conduct Due Diligence: Analyze properties on behalf of owners or prospective buyers, identifying site constraints and potential uses to inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare Development Applications: Manage the preparation and submission of development applications, including land use amendments, rezonings, special use permits, and variances.
  • Define Project Scope: Develop comprehensive scopes of work for new projects, effectively managing a diverse portfolio within budgetary constraints.
  • Manage Client Expectations: Guide clients through the land development entitlement process, providing clarity and support throughout planning efforts.
  • Ensure Budget Compliance: Monitor time budgets for all tasks, ensuring that team members consistently meet estimated fees and hours.
  • Guide Site Planning: Offer insights during the site planning process regarding regulatory requirements, fostering compliance and efficiency.
  • Present with Confidence: Prepare and deliver engaging presentations at public meetings, hearings, and design review boards, effectively communicating project visions and objectives.
What You Bring:
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience with the land development entitlement process
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Licensing: AICP preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Adobe Pro and Microsoft Office.
