Matthews | DCCM is growing and is looking to hire a full-time Transportation Engineer for our Jacksonville or St. Augustine office. This position will collaborate with team members to provide transportation engineering support for a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to: new roadway construction, existing roadway widening, permitting, intersection design, traffic studies, and sidewalk/trails. Projects will vary between private and public work, which will require great communication skills with our clients, FDOT staff, and local municipalities.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Required)
  • 2+ years of transportation engineering experience
  • EIT or PE license
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable
  • FDOT experience is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and employees at all levels of an organization
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills with attention to detail
  • High quality of work in a pressure environment with multiple projects occurring simultaneously

Responsibilities:

  • Perform design calculations (including, but not limited to: horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, turn lane analysis, and drainage spread/pipe capacity)
  • Assist and direct junior engineers and CAD designers with plans production (Roadway Plans/Profiles, Typical Sections, Signing and Striping, Grading and Drainage, MOT, Construction Details, Utilities, Cross Sections)
  • Coordination with other internal disciplines and teams
  • Quantity and Takeoff Calculations
  • Quality Control: Ensure that projects follow Matthews | DCCM company standards as well as regulatory requirements by completing technical reviews
  • Effectively monitor and manage hours of multiple projects at the same time to meet project schedules and budgets
  • Inform project manager(s) and client managers of progress on assigned projects and communicate design concerns
  • Have excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, along with a strong work ethic and sense of personal accountability
  • Strong independent worker as well as being able to work cohesively in a team environment and have good verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
  • Flexible scheduling available
