Sea Colony

St. Augustine beach, florida

On behalf of the development’s Homeowners’ Association, Matthews Design Group (MDG) provided consulting and restoration design services for a dry retention facility situated in the dunes in the Sea Colony development. The pond showed signs of nearly 15 years of neglect and no longer functioned as designed. This unique facility not only serves as a stormwater treatment facility, but also operates under a wetland conservation easement. MDG evaluated the collection and treatment systems for all of Sea Colony before preparing a restoration design coordinated with St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) to ensure the final product would meet permit conditions and reestablish the wetland. MDG oversaw pond reconstruction, and provided Sea Colony with a suitable operation and maintenance plan and training of Sea Colony personnel for the newly restored facility.
