Jacksonville University Marine Science Research Facility
Matthews Design Group (MDG) completed the engineering and site design for a 14,700 square-foot marine research facility for the Jacksonville University campus in Jacksonville, Florida. Design work included all stormwater, roadway, parking, and utility design for a complete site plan. MDG overdesigned the foundation of the structure due to the immense weight of the proposed cast-in-place concrete aquariums used for research. This new two-story structure functions as a world class marine research facility with a focus on the St. Johns River ecosystem.
