Pine Island Academy

St. Augustine, florida

Matthews | DCCM was the sub-consultant to the Architect-of-Record, and provided engineering services associated with the design and permitting for a K-8 school located on Pine Island Road at the intersection of Crosswater Parkway in St. Johns County, Florida. The campus is on a 25-acre site and includes a new 127,000 SF school building serving 1,500 students.

Stormwater management for the site was designed and permitted through two stormwater management facilities with discharge to the adjacent wetlands. The stormwater ponds provide the necessary treatment and attenuation for the proposed improvements. Site plan and construction plans depict the location and size of the proposed buildings, parking lot, bus drop-off ingress and egress, landscape and irrigation, stormwater management and drainage systems, and water and sewer utilities.

Our team designed and permitted a private sanitary lift station to capture and convey the sewage from the site to existing JEA facilities within the right-of-way. Landscape and irrigation plans were prepared to depict recreation areas, including a kindergarten play area, outdoor basketball court, soccer field, softball field, and a six-foot wide asphalt recreation trail. All designs were prepared and conformed to the St. Johns County School District ordinances. The Crosswater Parkway extension and required utility extensions to the subject parcel were designed and permitted separately.
