Shannon Acevedo, AICP
Shannon Acevedo brings extensive planning experience on both private and public sector projects. She served as the Sr. Planner with St. Johns County for three years before joining MDG. Her expertise includes regional planning research, data and code analysis, and project management. Shannon honed her research and analytical skills from projects related to employment to tourism to transportation to non-profits in her roles with the Maricopa Association of Governments and the Arizona State University Foundation. Shannon continued to gain in-depth land development knowledge and management skills while employed with St. Johns County where she managed planners, analyzed and interpreted code, and recommended code modifications.
In her role as Senior Planner at MDG, Shannon guides clients toward their land development goals through a creative approach to concept planning, site due diligence and highest and best use analysis, and project management steps to take a development from ideation to permitting. She specializes in securing entitlements and manages the process for land use amendments, rezonings, special use permits, and variances. Shannon has extensive public speaking skills and experience managing public participation meetings, community meetings, and design meetings as related to land development proposals.
Prior to this role, she served in various planning roles with St. Johns County most recently as the Senior Supervising Planner, managing a team of four planners. In her time with St. Johns County, she gained an in-depth understanding of local and state land development regulations, cross-departmental review of development projects, and was regularly tasked with analyzing and providing insight to code interpretations.
